RUHS Medical Center – The resident will be involved with patient and examination review, protocoling and formation of the imaging plan in a time sensitive and cost-effective manner, and ensuring radiation exposure is kept as low as reasonably achievable.

Radiology Services Rotaion

Body Imaging: Abdominal radiographs, fluoroscopy studies (speech swallow studies, esophagrams, upper, small bowel and lower GI studies, fistulograms, tube checks and hysterosalpingograms) CT, MRI and ultrasound examinations including evaluation of patient, examination appropriateness and

Breast Imaging: Mammography, ultrasound, MRI and MBI (molecular breast imaging. Procedures to include aspiration, biopsy and tumor localization.

Chest and Cardiac Imaging: Chest radiographs, CT, MRI and ultrasound examinations.

Musculoskeletal Imaging: Bone and extremity radiographs, CT, MRI, and ultrasound. Procedures to include arthrograms, joint aspirations, and biopsies.

Neuroradiology: CT, MRI and PET, an elective in NIR is available.

Nuclear Medicine: Radionuclide Imaging (bone scans, GI emptying studies, tagged WBC scans, VQ scans, cerebral perfusion, renograms, thyroid scans) PET/CT. Procedures including thyroid ablation. 

Vascular and Interventional Radiology: Angiograms and venograms to include angioplasty and stenting, catheter directed lytic therapy, mechanical thrombectomy, hemodialysis and filter placement. Image guided biopsies, aspirations and drainage procedures, percutaneous gastrostomy, nephrostomy, and biliary catheter tube placement.

Ultrasound: Abdominal, carotid, chest, extremity, fetal, hip, pelvis, renal, vascular duplex

Emergency Radiology: Interpretation of imaging studies as relates to emergency room and trauma patients with a focus toward coordinated appropriate imaging and participation in patient care and outcome. 

Elective (R): A 4 week block near the end of each year designed by the resident, after personal and faculty reflection, with the intention of insuring all residents are comfortable with the added expectations to transition to the next year of residency

Elective (S): Senior electives chosen by the resident based on personal interest, areas of intended board concentration and planned subspecialization
