Riverside University Health System (RUHS) – Public Health’s accreditation reflects a sustained commitment to Riverside County residents' health, quality improvement, accountability, and strong community partnerships.

In September 2014, the Riverside County Board of Supervisors authorized RUHS-Public Health to pursue national accreditation. The department strengthened performance management systems, formalized quality improvement practices, and aligned operations with national standards.

RUHS-Public Health submitted its application to the Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB) in October 2015, providing documentation demonstrating compliance across more than 100 nationally recognized standards and measures aligned with the Ten Essential Public Health Services. In August 2019, the department achieved full national accreditation.

Since that time, RUHS-Public Health has continued advancing data-driven decision-making, performance management, community partnerships, and key planning efforts including development and implementation of the Community Health Assessment (CHA), Community Health Improvement Plan (CHIP), and Strategic Plan.

In March 2025, the department submitted reaccreditation documentation to PHAB, demonstrating sustained progress and measurable improvement. In December 2025, PHAB conducted a site visit with the department to validate documentation and assess how national public health standards are implemented across the department. RUHS–Public Health achieved national reaccreditation in February 2026, reaffirming its commitment to protecting and improving the health of Riverside County residents.
