California Children’s Services (CCS) recognizes that there are many factors that contribute to the health and well-being of our clients. When a client and/or their caregivers are faced with stressors in day-to-day life, it can create barriers to accessing important medical care. The goal of the CCS Social Services department is to reduce those barriers and support the social and emotional needs of our clients and their families.
Our social workers specialize in assessing and understanding the needs of your household in order to provide personalized resources and build community connections. We can provide information on resources to assist with basic needs, such as food or utility discount programs, or accessing transportation to get to medical appointments. We can also provide emotional support and assist with adjusting to life with a serious medical condition.
Our CCS social workers also assist clients and their families with the transition from pediatric to adult healthcare. We can provide information on changes that happen when a CCS client turns 18 and provide resources for education, employment, financial support, and legal assistance. We aim to improve our clients’ readiness for adulthood and transition out of our program with services conclude at age 21.
