Greetings and Welcome to the Psychiatry Residency Program at Riverside University Health System!
I am excited to announce the establishment of the Psychiatry Residency Program at Riverside University Health System. This program represents the collective vision of a group of dedicated professionals and educators who have come together to develop an inclusive and unique curriculum that will prepare residents to become a superior clinician and health care professional – ready to face the challenges of a constantly evolving healthcare environment.
Located less than one hour from Los Angeles and about 90 minutes from San Diego, Riverside County is home to a diverse population of 2.4 million people who work, play, worship, attend classes and raise families in one of the fastest growing regions in the country where the median age is under 38 years. The presence of numerous prominent educational institutions, a vibrant business community and affordable housing make Riverside County one of the most desirable destinations for someone looking to be a part of a thriving community.
Residents can expect to receive a thorough grounding in community-based psychiatric care in a wide range of venues that is combined with clinical practice in hospital and outpatient settings. We also believe that developing leadership skills and promoting scholarship and innovation in program and clinical practice settings are core professional competencies that are essential to a successful career in psychiatry.
Beyond this training, we recognize the importance of cultivating friendship and fellowship among the faculty and residents as an essential part of developing a well-rounded professional and have taken particular care to establish a culture within the program that will support each individual resident in reaching his or her personal, professional and life goals.
